Our Historical Journey

Our bank was established in 1958 under the name Çaybank to support tea producers. In 1992, it was renamed Derbank, and at the end of 1997, it became a part of the Bayındır Group and its name was changed to Bayındırbank. On July 9, 2001, our bank was transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) by the decision of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), and its name was changed to Birleşik Fon Bankası by the decision of TMSF on December 7, 2005. The management, supervision, and rights excluding dividends of Birleşik Fon Bankası belong to TMSF. The process of transferring banks seized by TMSF to our bank is detailed below.

BAYINDIRBANK A.Ş. (09.07.2001)

According to the decision numbered 383 dated 09.07.2001 of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, Bayındırbank A.Ş.'s rights of partnership, management, and supervision were transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) in accordance with Article 14, paragraphs 3 and 4 of the Banking Law No. 4389.

EGSBANK A.Ş. (18.01.2002)

According to the decision numbered 428 dated 26.01.2001 of the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) Board of Directors, in accordance with the decision numbered 562 dated 26.01.2001 of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), it was decided that EGSBANK's all assets and liabilities would merge under Bayındırbank as of 18.01.2002 within the framework of the principle of universal succession.

ETİBANK A.Ş. (05.04.2002)

(Esbank T.A.Ş. (05.04.2002) and İnterbank A.Ş. (05.04.2002) included) By the decision numbered 177 dated 20.03.2002 of the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) Board of Directors, in accordance with the decision numbered 653 dated 20.03.2002 of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the liquidation of Etibank A.Ş. was lifted and it was decided that all of its assets and liabilities would merge under Bayındırbank A.Ş., whose shares are wholly owned by TMSF.

İKTİSATBANK T.A.Ş. (05.04.2002)

By the decision numbered 177 dated 20.03.2002 of the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) Board of Directors, in accordance with the decision numbered 653 dated 20.03.2002 of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the liquidation of İktisat Bankası T.A.Ş. was lifted and it was decided that all of its assets and liabilities would merge under Bayındırbank A.Ş., whose shares are wholly owned by TMSF.

KENTBANK A.Ş. (05.04.2002)

By the decision numbered 177 dated 20.03.2002 of the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) Board of Directors, in accordance with the decision numbered 653 dated 20.03.2002 of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the liquidation of Kentbank A.Ş. was lifted and it was decided that all of its assets and liabilities would merge under Bayındırbank A.Ş., whose shares are wholly owned by TMSF.

TOPRAKBANK A.Ş. (30.09.2002)

By the decision numbered 826 dated 26.09.2002 of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) and the decision numbered 604 dated 26.09.2002 of the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF), it was decided to merge the assets and liabilities of Toprakbank A.Ş. under Bayındırbank A.Ş.

Therefore, Birleşik Fon Bank continues its operations as the universal successor of 8 banks. In addition, some credit and deposit accounts of Demirbank, Sitebank, Sümerbank, Tarişbank, Bank Ekspres, and Türk Ticaret Bankası, which have been sold or liquidated, are also monitored by our bank.

In accordance with the decision of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) dated 09.07.2001, Bayındırbank (United Fund Bank), excluding dividend rights, transferred its partnership rights, management, and supervision to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF), and these rights are currently owned by TMSF.

Birleşik Fon Bank AŞ does not engage in activities such as Corporate/Individual Loan Allocation, Deposit Collection, Investment Banking Services, Management and Custody of Customer Funds, Insurance Services, Retail Banking Services, which are considered as the main business lines of banking, except for exceptions, as per decisions taken. The bank conducts liquidation activities for the assets and liabilities transferred to it.

As a result of the decisions taken by TMSF in 2002, in accordance with the principles of universal succession (complete transfer of debts and receivables), all assets and liabilities of 7 banks (EGS Bank, Etibank, Esbank, İnterbank, İktisat Bank, Kentbank, Toprakbank) were transferred to United Fund Bank. Additionally, partial mergers were made with 11 banks (Demirbank, Sitebank, Sümerbank, Yaşarbank, Yurtbank, BankKapital, Ulusal Bank, Egebank, Tarişbank, Bank Express, Türk Ticaret Bank) and Birleşik Fon Bank.

For loans used in Bayındırbank before being transferred to TMSF and for loans used in EGS Bank, Etibank, Esbank, İnterbank, İktisat Bank, Kentbank, Toprakbank transferred to our bank in accordance with the principles of universal succession (complete transfer of debts and receivables), and for partially transferred loans in Demirbank and Sitebank, it is necessary to fill out the documents on our website and apply to our Central Branch.

For payment requests related to blocked deposits, the account holder must submit a petition along with a photocopy of their ID to the Credits, Deposits, and Risk Research Unit.
